Never have to shave, wax, or deal with annoying ingrown hairs again with
Laser Hair Removal…

The evolution of how we view body hair has evolved over time and varies between cultures. If, for whatever reason, your preference is being hair free, it is a great idea to investigate laser hair removal. The sooner you begin, the less time, money, and mental energy you will spend on this in the long run!

Basically the Milesman laser at Lucere has one job! Hair removal! And it provides excellent results.

The Milesman 810nm diode laser is FDA approved, meeting the highest international standards. Manufactured in Europe, it has integrated cooling, high repetition rates and uses 2000W of homogenous laser power. A very impressive compact diode laser!

The 810nm wavelength, often called the gold standard in hair removal, is proven to be one of the most effective wavelengths for targeting hair due to its high absorbtion into melanin.

To eliminate the hair by way of laser light, a wavelength of 810 nanometers deeply penetrates into the dermis. The melanin of the hair absorbs the energy emitted by the laser light which produces a rapid heating of the hair and the follicle, and consequently, its degeneration.

We also have another option for hair removal using the BBL Forever Bare protocol. This is not laser, it is broadband light. There are some cases in which we may choose this device over the Milesman, for example when removing lighter or finer hairs. Our clients have the benefit of these two options in a treatment plan to reach the desired outcome.

What to expect during your Laser Hair Removal treatments

Please come to the clinic pre-shaved (ideally shave the day before). The skin will be cleansed and prepped and clear ultrasound gel applied to protect the skin and enhance the transmission of light into the hair. We’ll give you protective eyewear.

The chilled applicator will deliver one or two test pulses to give you an idea of how it is going to feel and then the treatment begins.

You will feel and hear a light pulsing along the treatment area and you may feel slight discomfort. This has been described as feeling like a warm pinprick or a rubber band snap sensation. The first treatment tends to cause more discomfort than subsequent treatments as there is less hair to target.

After each treatment, you will see more and more evidence of the results. Once follicles have been effectively weakened the hairs do not fall out immediately. During this interim period, it can look like continued growth is occurring but eventually the hair is shed from the skin naturally.

Results depend on factors like hair colour, thickness and density. The ultimate scenario is lighter skin and darker hair, but the Milesman laser is effective on most skin types. All lasers can only treat hair in its growing phase, this is why multiple treatments are necessary to catch those hairs that were previously in a dormant stage.

In some cases the hair is not permanently removed. It can be stunted or delayed for months or years. In this instance, when it does grow back, there is much less of it and it is typically much lighter and finer than before.

Duration

20-60 minutes depending on the area(s) treated

Recommended Sessions

We recommend purchasing a starter package of 6 sessions.

Depending on the area being treated, some people require 8-10 sessions and then from there, occasional maintenance as required.

The time between sessions varies according to the treatment area.

Eventually the minimal hair that does grow back is very sparse, light and fine, and laser treatments will be ineffective.

FAQs

  • We can say ‘permanent hair reduction’. We cannot scientifically or legally say that the hair is ‘permanently removed’ in case of hormonal or other biological changes that may occur in the body at some point later. This could lead to new growth of hair in the same area.

  • Melanin in the hair absorbs the energy emitted by the laser light which produces a rapid heating of the hair and the follicle, and consequently, its degeneration.

  • Everyone is different.

Typically 6-10 sessions with 6-12 weeks in between each session.

The timing will depend on the area being treated as each area of the body has hair growing at different rates and times. It will also depend on density and coarseness of hair, hormones, ethnicity and gender of the client.

  • Some people notice a 10-25% reduction after the first one. It is possible you won’t notice a substantial difference until you are about 3 or 4 treatments in.

  • No. This colour hair does not have enough melanin to absorb the laser energy.

  • You will feel and hear a light pulsing along the treatment area and you may feel slight discomfort. This has been described as feeling like a warm pinprick or a rubber band snap sensation. The first treatment tends to cause more discomfort than subsequent treatments as there is less hair to target.

  • It is important to understand both the risks and benefits of any procedure before deciding whether it’s right for you. At Lucere, we take every precaution to keep you safe during your treatments. We are committed to providing a clean and safe environment for our clients. We are committed to professional deveropment training and ongoing education.

The Milesman laser is safe and tolerable for most people. The Milesman's consistent energy output and uniform cooling system ensure a safer and controlled treatment, minimising the risk of adverse effects.

As with any aesthetic procedure, there are contraindications, and considerations that would make this treatment unsafe for some.

This treatment is not suitable for you if you have: A history of keloid scarring; active infections; use of oral accutane within 6 months; active or recent cancer; use of photosensitive medications, pregnancy and more.

Risks include: redness, swelling and uneven skin tone caused by hyper/hypo pigmentation. Bruising, burns and blistering. In the rare case this happens, the skin will likely return to normal over an extended period of time. However in very rare circumstances, this may be permanent.

The Milesman laser is not recommended for Fitzpatrick skin type 6, very dark skin, which has more light-absorbing melanin which increases the risk of a burn. Very tanned skin types (fitzpatrick skin types 4-5) can be treated with lower settings and with caution. We will determine your skin type in the consultation.

Unprotected eyes are at risk of injury during laser treatments. It is ESSENTIAL you wear the protective eyewear we give you during the treatment.

A full list of contraindications and risks will be covered in your consultation.
