MOXI™ Laser
Revitalise and refresh your skin’s appearance with MOXI™
MOXI™ by Sciton is a non-ablative, fractionated laser. It creates tiny, controlled thermal injuries, or “micro-coagulation zones,” below the surface of the skin. This process stimulates a healing response where damaged cells are replaced with fresh, healthy ones. This renewal process causes improvements to skin’s texture and overall tone boosting collagen production and revitalising the skin.
MOXI™ offers a wide range of benefits. It can correct the initial signs of sun damage and ageing, regardless of the season or your skin type. It is great for anyone at the beginning of their skin journey, interested in laser treatments, who wants to try the most non-invasive option that will still give a great result.
It is also a great “prejuvenation” option. A preventative treatment that encourages clients to maintain their skin BEFORE the visible signs of ageing set in.
MOXI is a very quick, easy and spicy treatment. The more of those little fractionated columns that get delivered into your skin, the hotter it is. However it is comfortably tolerated by most people even at the highest settings and there is minimal downtime.
The technology provides different options and levels, we can find the setting that best suits you and your comfort level!

What to expect during your MOXI treatments
Your skin will be cleansed and prepped. We’ll give you protective goggles for your eyes.
The handpiece lightly glides over your treatment area- some people say it feels very like a matchbox toy car rolling on the area. It makes a little sizzle sound as it glides. MOXI is super quick and easy, approximately 15-30 mins depending on the treatment area.
Unlike the BBL where you go back to normal temperature fairly quickly, the heat from MOXI is intense for an hour or two afterwards before returning to normal temperature. During that couple of hours you’ll feel like you have a sunburn. Cooling with cold packs, fans and a water spritz all help to return your skins’ temperature back to normal.
MENDS (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris) start to appear on day 2 or 3. These are tiny dots that look like sand or little coffee grinds. They will appear in the treatment area and give you a bronzed appearance.
MENDS represent your body's core response to the treatment and is a clear sign that the treatment is working. They will stick around for approximately one week until they slough away, revealing your amazing new skin!

After MOXI
The better you are with your after care, the faster you will see results. Plus, you will likely amplify the results, giving yourself the best possible skin.
Immediately after treatment you might want cooling. A spritz of water, a fan, air con in the car, or a cold compress are all good options. We will provide you with some initial cooling and you are welcome to sit for a while as you cool down.
Avoid direct sun exposure, wear sunscreen and protective clothing in the sun. This very important!
Relieve any swelling or redness by applying a cool compress.
Do not rub, scratch or pick treated areas.
Keep away from the heat or anything that makes you sweat for 1-2 days eg excessive exercise, sauna, very hot showers etc.
Keep your skincare simple. Do not use skincare with active or irritating ingredients for at least one week after treatment. We have recommended products available to purchase.
You will be given comprehensive post care instructions to take home after your treatment.

FAQs
-
Moxi sounds and feels like one of those little matchbox cars kids play with being rolled lightly over your face. It has a little sizzle sound - that’s the best way we can describe it.
There is no doubt, Moxi is a quick but spicy treatment. It depends how many tiny fractionated zones get delivered into your skin, the more zones - the hotter it is.
The machine provides different options and levels, we we can find the setting that best suits you and your comfort levels. Many people find even the highest settings tolerable.
The real heat of the Moxi comes after the treatment. The heat feels like a pretty hefty sunburn. If you have had a sunburn you will know it is a fiery feeling! Your skin will feel hot for approximately 1-2 hours afterwards.
Most people find Moxi tolerable. There there is the option for you to apply a topical numbing cream before your treatment.
-
Red or flushed!
But It depends on your skin and how you handle heat. If you are someone who goes red easily, you will likely be more red than someone whose skin is not as sensitive.
Its fair to say your treated area will stand out, however it settles relatively quickly. Everyone is different but typically 1-2 hours of that hot sunburn feeling and the redness gone by the end of the day.
-
You will see improvement in just one treatment. This is what makes MOXI so popular. The recommended number of treatments for a maximum result is 3-4 treatments with 1 or 2 annual maintenance treatments from there on.
-
In 10 days to 2 weeks you will have beautiful new skin, however the rejuvenation keeps coming and many people comment that they notice their skin is still improving 1-3 months on!
-
We do not treat pregnant women with lasers. The Moxi treatment sparks a healing response from the body. A pregnant woman’s body is already doing a big job creating a baby and living a busy mother’s life! We don’t want to distract the mother’s immune system from doing its most important job.
-
It is safe to have a Moxi treatment after having botox if you wait a certain amount of time. At Lucere we prefer you have waited at least one month post botox before you have a Moxi treatment.
-
It depends what medications you are taking. We discuss this in detail at your consultation.
Medications that make you sensitive to light including some antibiotics and accutane can make treatments unsuitable. Any medications you are on for autoimmune conditions or for any reason relating to boosting immunity would indicate that your body is already busy dealing with healing something else and that is a priority. We can discuss this in more detail at the consultation.
As our treatments trigger a healing response from the body, ideally you would be in great health and your body will easily heal and rejuvenate.

Please stop using your retinoids and vitamin A products at least one week before and after your treatment. Once your skin has settled down and is healing well you can go back to your usual routine or let us introduce you to some new products if you are wanting a change. Sunscreen is going to be at the top of your list as you will be more sensitive to light after your treatment.
