Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
At Lucēre, you trust us with your personal details and with information about your skin and health. We take that seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we keep it safe, and your rights.
Lucēre NZ Limited follows the Privacy Act 2020 and the Health Information Privacy Code 2020.
Who we are
Lucēre NZ Limited, Lansdowne Village, Masterton.
Our privacy officer is Caroline Wallace-Hughes. You can contact her at shine@lucere.co.nz with any question about your information.
What we collect
Contact details: your name, address, phone number, email and date of birth.
Health and treatment information: your medical history, medications, skin concerns, consent forms, treatment notes and settings, and how your skin responds to treatment.
Clinical photos: before, during and after photos of the treated area.
Bookings and payments: your appointment history, purchases and any payment plan. Card payments are handled by our payment providers, and we don’t see or store your full card number.
Online orders: your delivery address and order history.
Website activity: information collected through cookies and similar tools (see below).
How we collect it
Most of what we hold comes straight from you, through your consultation, forms, bookings, orders and messages.
Sometimes we receive information from someone else. This could be a doctor or health professional who refers you, someone who books an appointment or buys a gift card for you, or another provider you’ve asked to share your records with us. When this happens, we’ll let you know we have your information, where it came from and how we’ll use it, as soon as we reasonably can.
Why we use it
To check that a treatment is safe and suitable for you, and to deliver it well.
To keep accurate records and track your progress over time.
To manage bookings, reminders, payments and orders.
To answer your questions and resolve any concerns.
To send our newsletter, if you’ve signed up.
To improve our website and show relevant advertising.
To meet our legal obligations, including dealing with ACC where this applies to you.
Your photos
Clinical photos are part of your treatment record. They help us measure your results and plan your care. We store them securely, and if you’d like, we’ll create a before-and-after comparison and email it to you.
We will never use your photos, or anything that could identify you, on our website, social media or in advertising without your separate written consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time. If you do, we’ll remove your photos from our website and social media accounts and won’t use them again. We can’t recall material that has already been printed or shared by others.
Who we share it with
We never sell or rent your information. We only share it:
With your doctor or another health professional, when it’s needed for your care and you agree, or where the law allows it, for example to prevent a serious threat to someone’s health or safety.
With trusted service providers who help us run Lucēre, such as our booking and client records system (Cliniko), our website, shop and email platform (Squarespace), our online payment provider (Stripe), our accounting software (Xero) and accountant, the design tool we use for before-and-after comparisons (Canva), and our courier (Aramex). They may only use your information to provide their services to us.
Where the law requires it.
Some of these providers store information outside New Zealand, for example in Australia or the United States. We choose providers with strong security and privacy protections.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
Our website uses cookies and similar tools, including Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel. These help us understand how people use our site and show relevant Lucēre ads on Facebook and Instagram. They don’t tell us your name.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, change your ad preferences in your Facebook and Instagram settings, and opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s browser add-on.
Our newsletter
We only send our newsletter if you’ve signed up for it. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and we’ll remove you promptly. You’ll still receive messages about your appointments and orders.
Keeping your information safe
Your information is stored in secure, password-protected systems, and only people who need it for your care or our business can see it.
If a privacy breach ever happens that is likely to cause serious harm, we’ll tell you and the Privacy Commissioner, as the law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep health and treatment records, including photos, for at least 10 years after your last treatment. This is the standard for health records in New Zealand. Financial records are kept for 7 years for tax purposes. Other information is kept only for as long as we need it, then securely deleted.
Seeing and correcting your information
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything that’s wrong. Just email our privacy officer. We’ll respond within 20 working days, and there’s usually no charge. In rare cases the law allows us to withhold some information. If that happens, we’ll explain why.
Concerns
If you have a concern about how we’ve handled your information, please talk to us first. We’d like the chance to put it right. If you’re not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
